Overview

The Elsource Multifunction Meter is a compact, DIN-mount three-phase AC panel instrument that consolidates the voltage, current, power, energy and power-quality measurements a modern electrical panel needs into a single high-accuracy device.

Designed as the eyes of the panel, it presents key parameters on a clear LCD and exports them over RS485 Modbus RTU for integration with SCADA, DCS, BMS and Elsource EMS. It fits naturally at incomer bays, motor control centres, transformer LT panels and distribution boards, giving electrical, maintenance and energy teams a shared, real-time view.

Because it speaks Modbus and DLMS-adjacent conventions, the meter drops into existing automation stacks without custom drivers — protecting the customer's investment in SCADA and MES platforms while unlocking granular energy visibility for ISO 50001 aligned reporting.

Key capabilities

What sets this smart meter apart on the panel.

Full electrical parameter set

V, I, kW, kVAR, kVA, PF, Hz and energy registers on all three phases and system aggregate.

Modbus RTU on RS485

Standard register map for immediate integration with SCADA, DCS, BMS and EMS platforms.

DIN mount, panel-friendly

Compact form factor with front-panel LCD, designed to sit alongside protection relays and controllers.

High-resolution measurement

Suitable for energy accounting, demand analysis and power-quality trending at plant and building level.

Rugged industrial design

Built for electrical panel environments — vibration, temperature and electromagnetic conditions typical of industrial sites.

Works with

Standards-first. Integrates in days, not months.

Elsource meters ship with the protocols and register maps that head-end, SCADA, BMS and EMS platforms already understand — so the integration effort stays measured.

  • Elsource On-Premises & Cloud EMS
  • SCADA and DCS platforms via Modbus RTU
  • BMS and DCIM platforms
  • Third-party historian and BI systems via gateways

FAQ

Questions engineers actually ask.

What communication protocol does the meter use?

The meter exports data over RS485 Modbus RTU with a standard register map, making it compatible with virtually every SCADA, DCS, BMS and EMS platform in use today.

Can it be used for tenant billing?

It is well suited to sub-metering scenarios where non-revenue billing is acceptable; for revenue-grade tenant billing, pair it with the three-phase smart meter and the Elsource Tenant Billing platform.

Is it suitable for solar installations?

Yes — for generation and consumption monitoring in solar plants. For net-metering with the utility, use the three-phase smart meter with bi-directional registers.
